I Could Never Live In An RV

One of my dearest friends and I were talking before we switched to full time RV life. She said to me, "I could never do that. I don't have a nomadic bone in my body."
I thought long and hard about that. You see, living frugally, knowing how to survive in dire situations, fixing things, and finding joy in memories and experiences always came naturally to me. I had never stopped to think how scary this lifestyle must seem to some people.

To me, it seemed like complete freedom from the every day routines and hum drum, wash, rinse, repeat lifestyle so many are accustomed to, and many love.
I was never a "stay in one place forever", "this is how life is" kind of woman though. I tried to be...many times, but I always found myself restless, bored, and wanting more.
Did I lack stability? Very few times. Was I flighty? Not at all. I simply demanded more for myself than settling into a life that didn't bring me joy.

People's comments and opinion since we began living full time in our rig make sense to me. I get why they say the things they say--because most of them would be absolutely terrified and completely out of their element at the mere thought of giving up their "stuff" or their routines.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Different things bring different people joy and enhance their lives. Mine was, what was considered by others to be, "unconventional" and "reckless", but that's not at all what it was or still is to me.

Living small was always my dream. I used to dream of living in a small cabin by a stream, chopping firewood, using water from the creek, and living off the land by planting a garden. This dream has been in my head for almost ten years now.
So I did something about it. We bought a rig and set off to find our little piece of paradise. We haven't found it yet, but I truly believe it's out there, and we would never, ever have a chance to find that out if we didn't live this way and explore.

Nature has always been my happy place. If that makes me a nomad for a while, I embrace it fully. It doesn't change who we are or what we desire most in life because we live this way. If anything, it enhances it because we have less "stuff" and less bills to worry about. We simply...live.
