Whether you have kids, pets, or a spouse kicking around, cooking in a small space can be difficult to do.

Almost everyone I know can attest to the utter frustration of bending to look in the fridge and having a little humans head, a dogs snout, or a partners body parts interfering with your rear end.

Once you learn the tricks and moves, this does get a little easier.

For example, if the kids are always hooked to your backside, put the TV on in another area. Zombify them til mealtime.

If your dog is smooching your caboose, there are crates, gates, doors...whatever you require to get your task completed.

As for your partner, learn the moves and lingo. Do the suck in slide by complete with an "I'm coming by" so as not to scare you out of your wits if you're heavily focused on your masterpiece.

Those interferences aside, what about the small space? Many RV's have little to no counter space. If you're like us, we ripped out the oven and stove and use a convection oven and burners.

If you need to make three things, make the one that stays hot longest and takes the longest to cook first, then make the others, or use the barbecue for the third. It's amazing what you can wrap in foil and shove on there!

If you have an oven and cook top, space should only be an issue for prep. Use the table whenever possible for this. Where there's a will there's a way!

Most of our meals consist of two or three things. When we do go all out with homemade soup, chili, or another such recipe, we use one big pot or skillet for it all, or our crock pot. Even less space needed.

What about holidays? No problem! We used our barbecue, two burners and the oven, but so as not to blow a breaker, we cooked the barbecue stuff at the same time as the oven stuff, left both closed but turned them off, and then cooked the burner stuff. It was all warm and super yummy!

Just remember, the joy is in the journey, so push that frustration aside and get creative!
