So You Call Yourself A Nomad

Wikipedia defines a nomad as "a member of a community without fixed habitation which regularly moves to and from the same areas", thus, we are not nomads because we do not return to the same areas consistently.
However, if you look up the definition for a nomad in the Urban Dictionary, it states "one without a home who moves around or travels freely without ties holding them back" or "a constant or full-time traveler". This definition makes us nomads.

What I'm getting at here is that you can call yourself whatever you want--a gypsy, even though you aren't from Central or Eastern Europe, England, or France; a bohemian, even if you don't have a musical or artistic bone in your body; or even a pilgrim if you go to a single church while out travelling--it doesn't really matter as long as you are happy.
Full time RV life, or travel life of any kind, is truly rewarding if you make it that way. It all depends on you--your attitude, your motivation, and your ability to slow down and let go.

Yes, we call ourselves nomads. We also call ourselves persistent for living with no hot or running water and using a solar shower or a microwave to heat water, strong for living off grid, wise for learning to fix things ourselves, and happy for every single second we get to be together as a family.
Regardless of the labels we give ourselves, we have been called poor for having no hot water and for living in a motorhome. We have been called homeless for our love of living off grid, and careless and about a million other things for choosing this life with our children.

You know what? I genuinely feel sorry for people who are so unhappy in their own lives that they feel the need to criticize others. It doesn't bother us any. We still live how we live, and do what we do.
Your mind is a truly powerful thing. It's your choice what you want to use it for--positive or negative. Whichever you choose, please know that your whole life will follow suit.
So you call yourself a nomad, gypsy, bohemian, pilgrim, or wanderer? I say, "Welcome friend. Make your life unforgettable!"
