Timing Is Everything

Have you ever been ready to set out, or make a big change, but the stars aren't seeming to align for you? This has happened for us many, many times. Generally speaking, people are prone to give up when this occurs, feeling like maybe their dreams or desires weren't meant to happen. Oftentimes, we too abandoned ship instead of pushing on.

Back then, we were lacking knowledge that I now live by. I'm unsure who said it, but I believe they said it best. "Even if you're ready, where you are going may not be ready for you." Think about that for a moment...

Two years ago, we thought we were ready to set out on this epic adventure into the unknown world of full time rving. We could taste it. We could smell it. We could feel what it would be like with every fiber of our being, but things kept happening that seemed to be constantly setting us back and making our dreams feel impossible to achieve. Then the day came when we refused to give up--refused to let the multitudes of setbacks deter us from what we longed to experience in our lives.

We tore down all of the barriers holding us back one by one. When we had low income, I opened a home daycare to bring more in. When my husband got laid off from his job, he took over the daycare and I found work locally as a coordinator for a TV show. The obstacles kept on coming and we kept climbing, paddling, and shoving them aside one by one, refusing the give up. Finally the day came when COVID-19 spread across the globe, closing city after city, business after business. I got laid off early on and we had to close the daycare. Instead of feeling down and scared, we decided to prosper during the hard times.

Knowing that we had nothing holding us where we were because of the pandemic shut-downs, we pushed harder than ever before. We sold everything we owned over the course of two months, used that money to complete all of the remaining renovations on our motor home, lived in it on our driveway for a month, and then it was our time. Where we were going was finally ready for us.

We researched and learned things we never knew we needed to know before. Conquering mountains became our daily life. Pushing ourselves to the brink of insanity and then rounding the corner to see a new hill before us became a weekly norm. We got creative fixing problems. We got stronger as people, and we discovered we could do anything as long as we were together as a family.

Where we are going may not have been ready for us then, and it still may not be ready for us now, but that is something we are going to find out. Plans change every day. Life constantly prepares us, pushes us, breaks us, and then builds us back up again. It's in those moments that you truly get to live life and find out who you truly are and what you're truly capable of.

Don't give up on yourself and your dreams. No one else is going to live them for you. We decided we were done writing the pages of someone else's book and that it was time to start writing our own story.
