Christmas In An RV

No matter near or far, huge house or RV, Christmas has always held a special place in my heart.

It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, have a home or not. I find inner joy and love through the holidays and it sparks warmth for me.

Even the years when I was younger and had gone through breakups right before Christmas, or was feeling down, some touch of magic always seems to caress my soul and light that fire within.

I understand it is not this way for everyone--some people hate the holiday season, dread it even--but for me, it's always been this way for as long as I can remember.

Sure, we may not be with loved ones, may be hundreds of miles away, and may be in a much smaller space with less decorations, but after buying a tree today, that feeling returned.

I was worried that because we are in a small motorhome that Christmas would feel different and not be so great this year, but I was totally wrong. It still holds a beautiful glow.

You find ways. Even though there isn't room to store a ton of decorations, you don't need a ton to bring warmth to your heart indoors.

For those of you who have had Christmas in your rig in previous years, this is nothing new to you, but to us, it is very new being our first Christmas away and in a rig, and we love it!

For anyone who's worried the way I was, don't be. Create new traditions and new ways to celebrate the holidays. Your kids are not as freaked out and worried as you, I promise. They just want to feel Christmas...and have asked how Santa will get in with no chimney. After much debate, we decided we didn't want ol' Saint Nick stinkin up the joint coming through the sewer vent on the roof, so we agreed he can use magic and just come in through the door.

Christmas doesn't have to be the tinsel and lights. Christmas is a feeling in your heart.
